Life in Casper: Day 4

Despite tossing and turning for a good chunk of the night from being either too hot or too cold, I managed to wake up at 6am for morning yoga. just like the previous morning, I could almost feel how much looser and flexible my body was slowly becoming. After our workout and breakfast, I got dressed and dropped Mikkola off at work.

I already had an idea what I wanted to do for my first solo adventure. I'd seen a little park when we'd dropped off Chey-Chey at daycare that I really wanted to visit. It also had a little lake and was surrounded by oodles of green planets. It was called Yesness Park.

I really enjoyed visiting this park!

This is where I really got into taking pictures of my environment, so be warned! There will be lots of pictures coming for this post!

So the first thing I realized when I walked into Yesness Park was that it was a lot bigger than it looked from the road. I quickly picked a trail that led around the river and followed it. The walk was long and relaxing. I loved the way the tall grasses rustled in the wind, making it look like the rippling waves of a sea of green. It was beautiful. I quickly put on some music to relax myself and continued my walk passed the lake.

I followed the trails far enough away that I wasn't sure when it ended. So I decided to turn back. On the way, I called my sister Ashley to see how she was adjusting to her move back to Salt Lake City. We chatter almost the entire time I walked around and she had to listen to my heavy breathing as I challenged myself to climb the steep him in the top right picture. It was quite a challenge but I managed to do it. After a while I let Ashley go and continued listening to music as I walked around the other side of the lake.

A quick shot of the lake
I took my time reaching the end of the trail, opting to instead go off the trail in favor of moving closer to the lake. I had to cross a couple of makeshift bridge from planks of wood, but I made it safely to the water. I found a really pretty rock in the ground and used the stream water to clean both it and my hands off.

I knew it was finally time to leave when I saw a large group of children arrive on the opposite side of the lake. A couple of them obnoxiously waved and screamed 'hi' at me until I waved back. I knew my nice peace and quiet wouldn't last much longer once they caught up to me. So with a sigh, I said goodbye to the lake and Yesness Park, and moved on to my next adventure.

I was definitely coming back!
I went back to the apartment and hung out with Dar-Dar for a bit. Before long my exhaustion got the best of me and I decided to take a little nap. Chey-Chey now no longer saw me as a threat and decided to join me on the bed for a nap. The next thing I knew, it was three hours later and getting close to the time to pick Mikkola up from work. Dar-Dar and I ran a couple quick errands before heading over to her work.

The front of the shop
One of those stops was this adorable cookie shop on the way to her work called Eileen's Colossal Cookies. The cookies were decently priced for the size, $1 per cookie, and they had loads of different flavors! Some were iced, some were sold in a dozen. They even had examples of giant cookies as big as a large pizza! I opted for a oatmeal caramel cookie that looked good. Sadly, Mikkola ate it before she realized that it was mine.

The display case

When we got home from picking Mikkola up, we ate dinner watched a bit more ID channel. It was easy and a little surprising how quickly this had become a routine. After a while we did our evening stretches, then went to bed.
